Welcome

What brings people to therapy?

Whether you are exploring the idea of therapy for the first time or have previous experience I offer a secure space to explore your thoughts and feelings and help you develop the tools and mechanisms to deal with your concerns.

Our reasons for seeking therapy are sometimes clear and sometimes less so. A feeling that something is not OK is often the beginning. Some people need a few therapy sessions to formulate what's wrong and become articulate about the problem.

Some clearer common stimuli to begin therapy include feelings of depression, anxiety, relationship issues, eating disorders, trauma and grief. Every client is unique and together we will explore the most helpful approaches to deal with each individual’s life challenges.

About Me

Experienced, flexible, Dorset based

After more than 35 years of practice in London, I relocated to the peaceful surroundings of Beaminster in West Dorset in 2022. Now working part-time from my home practice, I offer a supportive and confidential space for clients to explore what brings them to therapy.

At Spitzer Psychotherapy, I draw on a wide range of approaches, adapting the work to suit each individual. Whether you are seeking short-term focused help, or longer-term, open-ended therapy, the work is tailored to meet your needs. My training includes in-depth trauma work, also working with eating disorders and self harm, PTSD, and therapy that addresses early adverse experiences—including those linked to childhood or the impact of boarding school.

As a psychotherapist and Jungian analyst, I also offer Art Therapy, a non verbal form of expression that can supplement and enrich the verbal work, often resonant for artists and those in creative fields. Art can be integrated with talking therapy, offering a powerful, complementary way to access and express what may be hard to articulate with words alone.

Over the past 25 years, I’ve also worked as a clinical supervisor, supporting both trainees and experienced practitioners within the ethical frameworks of BPC and UKCP.

Common concerns I work with include anxiety, depression, grief, relationship and family issues, life transitions, and questions of meaning and identity. Therapy is offered both in person and online—or a blend of both, depending on what suits you best.

I offer initial phone conversation and first consultation for free, to help us explore whether working together feels right for you, without it being too costly.

If you’re looking for a thoughtful, flexible, and creative therapeutic space, I welcome you to get in touch.
